Celebrating Attendance
At Elaine Primary School, we believe that celebrating attendance fosters motivation, responsibility and pride. Here’s how we reward and recognise great attendance:
Weekly Attendance Prize: Additional play time awarded to the class with the highest attendance and punctuality that week (15 minutes for 1st place, 10 minutes for 2nd place, 5 minutes for 3rd place).
100% Class Weekly Certificate: Classes achieving 100% attendance are awarded an extra certificate during the celebration assembly.
Termly 100% Attendance Certificates: Children with perfect attendance for the term are honoured in our end-of-term Attendance Celebration Assembly. They also receive a prize and voucher!
Attendance Tuck Shop: Children have attendance cards which are stamped daily. During the last week of term, the children are able to 'spend their stamps' in the tuck shop!
Wake up, Shake up: One morning is selected at random per week whereby from 8:35-8:40, music is playing as the children enter school with the opportunity to dance with their parent/carer and school staff. Children who are on the premises on time will be able to take part.
Special Competitions and Challenges
To keep things exciting, we run a variety of attendance-themed competitions throughout the year, such as:
-
Egg-stra Mile Improved Attendance – each class is given an individual attendance target. Should the class achieve their target, they are able to participate in an Easter Egg hunt during the last week of term. The class with the most improved attendance for this term can eat their lunch at the Easter-themed dining table for the last week of term.
-
Summer festival – Children with over 96% attendance at the end of the academic year gain a VIP ticket to the Elaine Summer festival! Children will be able to enjoy outdoor games, snacks and music in the sunshine during the last week of term!
-
Raffle Rewards – pupils with improved attendance are entered into raffles to win books, vouchers, and experiences.
-
Polar Express Attendance – for every day in December that a class has 100% attendance, their train moves one stop closer to the North Pole. Any class that reaches the North Pole by the final week of term wins a Polar Express afternoon. Children will be invited into school in their pyjamas, will receive a hot chocolate and can watch a festive film!
These events help build a positive culture around attendance while making school fun and rewarding for everyone.
