Elaine Primary Academy Collect Awards from Buckingham Palace

As many of you will know already Elaine Primary Academy were invited to Buckingham Palace to attend the annual Burnet News Club Awards Ceremony for 2016/17.  Ten schools were shortlisted for an award, of which Elaine Primary Academy were one.

Yesterday, was our big day and Miss Hofer, Miss Harland and Ms Davenport travelled up to London on the train along with Darcy Smith (Year 6) from Elaine Primary Academy, and her Father.  The ceremony was held at The Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace in London.

The winning school was Farringdon Community College. In addition to the winning school, ten students also picked up special prizes for their outstanding contributions to the Hub this year, including Darcy.

Outstanding Teacher Award 2017

This year Burnet News Club also introduced a new Outstanding Teacher Award to recognise the awesome efforts of BNC teachers. They shortlisted four teachers for the award, and our very own Miss Hofer was awarded the “Outstanding Teacher Award for 2016/17!”

Congratulations to Miss Hofer and each and every one of our Burnet News Club Members.  Everyone in the club has demonstrated excellent knowledge of current affairs and made really skilful contributions.  You are a credit to the academy and deserve every ounce of recognition!

All past winners are recognised on the hub’s Wall of Honour, which is soon to be updated with this year’s award winners.

Burnet News has been such a storming success here at Elaine, that each of primary school within The Williamson Trust will be setting up similar clubs starting in September 2017, so who knows who will be on next year’s short list…..

Our Chairman, Mr Michael Costello said
"On behalf of all Directors, many congratulations to Miss Hofer, Darcy and all our children and staff involved in this wonderful project.
I am very proud of you all.
Fantastic!"
