Buckingham Palace here we come!
Awards shortlist announced
The annual Burnet News Club awards will be taking place this month at Buckingham Palace. Burnet News Club is a network of school news clubs run by teachers with training, news content and resources provided by the Economist Educational Foundation, a charity and they have just announced their shortlist of schools for the 2016/17 Award:
Charles Read Academy
Faringdon Community College
Grace Academy Coventry
Malcolm Arnold Academy
St. Peter's Primary
St. Mary's and St. John's Primary
This year Burnet News Club have also introduced a new Outstanding Teacher Award to recognise the awesome efforts of BNC teachers. They have shortlisted four teachers for the award:
Anita Chagar, Grace Academy Coventry
Celina Viner, Faringdon Community College
Claire Hofer, Elaine Primary
Sarah Andrews, Chiltern Way Academy
As a shortlisted school, Miss Hofer and a colleague are invited to the awards ceremony at The Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 27th June at 18:30. The winning school will be announced on the night. Ten students will also pick up special prizes for their contributions to the Hub this year.
Burnet News say "We've been really impressed with the contributions your school club has made to discussions on the blog and the progress students have made over the year in the club skills."
So what's next: We need to keep an eye out for our official invitation to Buckingham Palace as well as another email as an individual student at Elaine Primary Academy has also won a prize and is invited along with a parent or guardian!
Our Chairman, Mr Michael Costello says: "What fantastic news to return to after the break. We are delighted to see that the hard work of our pupils has been recognised in such a wonderful way and quite rightly Miss Hofer's own personal outstanding contribution is being recognised.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved and many congratulations to everyone concerned. An uplifting start to term 6."
You can only imagine how proud we are of the staff and students at Elaine Primary Academy and we look forward to hearing all about your visit to Buckingham Palace later this month.
